Wendy Morrison x SKYLENCE: A Chinoiserie Dream

When two creative worlds meet with genuine curiosity and shared respect, something special happens. The Wendy Morrison x SKYLENCE collaboration began as a conversation — about culture, symbolism, craftsmanship, and the emotional power of design — and evolved into a limited capsule collection that brings art into motion.

Wendy Morrison is a celebrated British rug designer and artist, known for creating richly detailed, hand-crafted pieces that feel like modern heirlooms. Her work is instantly recognisable: bold colour, layered mythologies, and a distinctive visual universe where dragons, peacocks and talismanic motifs live side by side. At SKYLENCE, our design language is equally rooted in storytelling — reimagining heritage through modern silhouettes and creating pieces that feel timeless yet alive. This collection became a natural meeting point: Wendy’s artwork and SKYLENCE’s structure and tailoring, united into garments and accessories that carry meaning.

At the heart of the capsule are two signature motifs from Wendy’s world: the Talisman Dragon and the Kujaku Peacock. The dragon is a symbol of protection, vitality, and spiritual strength — dynamic, powerful, and unapologetically bold. The peacock represents beauty, renewal, and quiet confidence, expressed through layered colour and fluid movement. Together, they form a visual dialogue that feels at once regal and contemporary.

Translating artwork into fashion is not simply placing a motif onto fabric — it’s about honouring proportion, movement, and the body. SKYLENCE shaped Wendy’s designs into a curated set of statement pieces: a dramatic wool cape, a silk satin kimono robe, and silk jacquard scarves that bring the collection into everyday life. Each item is designed to move effortlessly between occasions, from gallery openings and dinners to elevated daily dressing.

Craftsmanship sits at the centre of this collaboration. From the first sampling to the final stitch, the pieces were brought to life by skilled artisans within SKYLENCE’s private atelier and specialist workshops in Shanghai, translating intricate artwork into wearable form with precision and care. Every hand embroidery placement, finish and fabric choice was refined to ensure the garments not only look striking on camera, but feel exceptional in real life — the kind of pieces you reach for year after year.

Another meaningful detail is found on the back of our Talisman Wool Cape, where SKYLENCE introduces a second narrative inspired by Wu Zetian, the first and only female emperor in Chinese history. Her emblematic phrase “日月凌空” (Ri Yue Ling Kong) — the sun and the moon rising together in the sky — speaks of sovereignty, balance, and a woman standing at the centre of power. It felt like the perfect counterpart to Wendy’s dragon: two symbols of power, interpreted through two creative voices.

This collaboration is ultimately a celebration of exchange — of art becoming wearable, of heritage becoming modern, and of storytelling becoming something you can step into. The Wendy Morrison x SKYLENCE Collection invites you to dress with intention: to wear beauty, to wear symbolism, and to wear a piece of a shared creative journey.

As Chinese New Year approaches, we’re leaning into the season’s spirit of renewal, luck, and new beginnings — and we hope these pieces become your blessings for the year ahead, whether worn for festive gatherings or carried into everyday life.

A celebration of East and West — of British artistry and Chinese cultural heritage.
